Our story begins with our mother/sending church, West Side Church of Yakima, Washington. What began as a prayer meeting of a few believers in 1953 is growing into a movement of nearly two thousand growing disciples engaged in two and (soon) three vibrant Yakima Valley Churches.
The Vision for church planting at West Side is that every man, woman, and child in the Yakima Valley has the chance to experience the life-changing reality of Jesus Christ by hearing the gospel through a believer connected with one of our God honoring churches.
In 2000 the elders of West Side decided it would be important for West Side to reach out more strategically in the greater Yakima area. It was at that time that they began to research the possibility of planting their first daughter church in this region.
In the spring of 2003, Sun Valley Church was planted in the East Valley. Sun Valley has grown to over 200 in attendance and has served as great model of mother daughter church planting.
In the spring of 2007 the elders at West Side met with the elders at Sun Valley to talk about church planting. A stirring question was presented, “If we could have in a few years the same results that we’ve had with Sun Valley…would we do it again”? The answer was unanimously yes, and Pastor Jason Williams was chosen to be the next church planter.
After seeking the Lord and looking at the demographics of our valley, Selah was chosen to be the next area to plant a new church. A committed core of believers was organized in the fall of 2008 and LifeGroups (small groups) were formed.
In January 2009, the core group began meeting in the Selah Civic center and on March 1st, 2009 the church was officially launched and the church has begun to grow and thrive.
We invite you to come and be a part of God's story with us!
